I drove up to the downtown area to watch the HAZIR show performed by Hariharan ji and Zakir Hussain ji. It was pouring down that night and I was supposed to go to the show by myself. So you can see that there are already many reasons why I could have skipped the show. It was worth all the effort of getting there. I was treated to two-hour journey into the musical heaven.
They started 15 minutes late because of the bad weather conditions, the organizers apologized for it, and the musicians skipped the intermission so we could leave on time. Now, if that is not professionalism, i don't know anything else.
Zakir Hussain ji is an amazing artist, a beautiful mix of the outstanding talent, supreme modesty, and zany sense of humor. I really enjoyed watching him perform, sometimes supporting the singer playing in the background and other times moving to the center and taking the audience by storm.
There are no words to describe Hariharan ji's talent. He is so spontaneous and filled with so much talent. I like his easy going personality and a certain sense of humor to the proceedings.
The supporting musicians were extremely talented.
Hariharan made an announcement of an app they are about to launch. You can find more details here.
They played some old songs, some new ones, some movie songs, and some blue ones. One that stands out most was the "Urdu Blues" rendition of "Yeh Aaine Se". All in all, it was an enchanting experience.
Did I tell you that there is no one like Zakir Hussain, his talent is beyond comprehension!
