There is so much talk about Suriya and Samantha's upcoming movie 24. Being the purist that I am, I listened to the Tamil version of the songs for this review. I cannot follow the lyrics but I can definitely enjoy the music.
Aararoo - Shakthisree Gopalan was very impressive in this song. I am so glad she got a chance to sing this song. It has been a while since I heard a simple, lilting melody from ARR and I am glad Shakthisree got to croon it. I liked the song and Shakthisree's rendition. There was a certain melancholy, innocence, and warmth to the song and her voice that was very touching.
Naan Un - Arijit Singh and Chinmayi breathe life into the song Naan Un. It is a sweet composition and one that is extremely well done. Since I do not speak Tamil, I cannot see this with confidence but it seemed that Arijit got most of the accent right.
Mei Nigara - This is one of my favorite songs from the album. It is super cool and fun. Jonita Gandhi and Sid Sriram sound extremely groovy. Jonita has an amazing flexibility to her voice that makes listening to her a pleasing experience. Sanah Moidutty also supported them in this song. So much for this song was.
Punnagaye - Interesting start to this song. Shashaa Tirupati and Haricharan did a great job. This is one of the ARR songs that I need to listen to a few times before I can fall in love with it. So I will wait until that happens.
My Twin Brother - Super groovy composition.
Kaalam Yen Kadhali - This song was released earlier and I had reviewed it here. Benny Dayal is rocking this song as usual. How can one person fit so much energy in one person is an amazement to me. Benny Dayal is a gem of a performer. Perhaps I need to do a separate post on him sometime.
Overall, a super cool album from ARR. Mei Nigara and Aararoo stand out.
