I had already heard the Tamil version of Suriya's 24 movie songs. I thought Shakthishree had poured her soul into the "Aaaraaroo" song. That is until I heard Nithya in the telugu version. I don't know if it was the rawness in her voice or the fact that the song is in my mother tongue but I was blown away. I think everyone knows that Nithya is a great singer but she was beyond best in this one. The rawness in her voice reminded me of "Jeeva Nadhi" song performed by Geeta Madhuri in Baahubali. It is difficult to do justice to simple songs like this one and she nailed it. Her diction was perfect. I think it is Chandrabose that composed the lyrics. Thank you Nithya and A.R. Rahman for giving me a favorite Telugu lullaby.
Being a mom myself, I was in tears while listening to the song. Every word in the song was resonating with me and tugging at my heart strings. Lullabys are done to death in indian movies and especially telugu movies. So the challenge there is to sound different without veering too far away from the standard format of the lullaby. They have achieved the right balance in this one. Chandrabase has done a superb job penning new but simple lyrics for this gentle song. Do give it a listen for sure!
